I’ve never been a Joburg fan – my experience of it used to be fly-in-and-fly-out as quickly as possible, but my oh my was I pleasantly surprised to find an electric city, stylish down to earth people, a bustling art, fashion and culture scene that makes me wish I could stay here just a little bit longer. I’m sorry for never giving you a fair chance Jozi Town, did you change or was it me?
A million miles away from Sandton City is 44 Stanley…an olive tree filled courtyard with a collection of fantastic restaurants, interior shops, books, fashion and flowers
Vovo Telo the owners dream of the perfect loaf of bread…mmmm bread
Salvation Cafe – non snob food made with love
Il Giardino’s beautiful hanging garden
Bean There – great coffee and interiors
The owners of Wolves Cafe have opened up a noodle bar next door called Good Luck Club. Twice fried beef with basmati rice and the teriyaki beef with noodles – very high spazzing out factor.
Finally a hot dog joint! And by joint I mean a dead cool bar slash restaurant slash night club with an incredible gourmet hot dog selection like the Rottweiler and the Boerbull. The floor is made up entirely of 5c coins and an outside area with quirky mismatched lanters- Great Dane in Braamfontein.
